Today's the season opener for HHS Baseball π―βΎοΈ as the Tigers compete in the Van Buren Wood Bat Classic #TheTigerWay

#TBT - In March 2019, these three HHS pitchers combined to strike out 26 Mountain Grove batters to establish a new state record. Starter Braedin Groff struck out 12 batters in five innings and Sterling Jackson whiffed 13 batters in 6 2/3 innings to tie the state record of 25. Houston R-1 Bands is holding Color Guard Clinics on March 20 and April 3. They are open to current members as well as any students grades 8-12 interested in joining the team. We hope to see you there!

During an afternoon assembly, guests Jeremy and Caleb Freeman shared with our students the power of perseverance, purpose and overcoming. Give a 10 percent chance to live following a vehicle accident, Caleb miraculously recovered and now travels the country sharing his story.

HHS senior Emily Honeycutt is the author of the newest production of The Stars Foundation titled, "Wanted: West Virginiaβs Weirdest!" Auditions are this Saturday for the unique, non-musical comedy. Ages 14 and up are welcome to audition.

The Houston Wellness Program hosted TIGERS IN TRAINING, an after-school fitness program, for 3rd-5th graders in January and February. The class was taught by Mr. Rory Davis, Ms. Melissa Carpenter, and Mrs. Jode Huffman. It focused on balance, stability, spatial awareness, nutrition and athletic training movement.
Forty-six students participated in the training, and the 19 kids pictured attended 75 percent or more of the classes and received a new water bottle as a prize. HHS students won seven honors in the first awards ceremony at the Beta Club Convention. Placing were: Gracyn McNiell - 9th grade math, fifth place; Kristen Ely - 10th grade language arts, fifth place; Ari Frisbee - 10 grade health science, fifth place; Miah Bressie - 11th grade science, fourth place; and musicology, fifth place; and Andy Durham - spelling beta bee, third place; and 12th grade science, first place.
