HHS students won seven honors in the first awards ceremony at the Beta Club Convention. Placing were: Gracyn McNiell - 9th grade math, fifth place; Kristen Ely - 10th grade language arts, fifth place; Ari Frisbee - 10 grade health science, fifth place; Miah Bressie - 11th grade science, fourth place; and musicology, fifth place; and Andy Durham - spelling beta bee, third place; and 12th grade science, first place.

Get ready to duck, dodge and dive! The HHS junior class is hosting a 12-team dodgeball tournament March 21. Signup sheets will be passed out on campus. There will be prizes for Most School Spirit, Best Team Name, Best Team Costume/Uniform, as well as the champions of both the student and staff teams. Want to watch? We love our Storybook Creations nights in the elementary! In February, we had a blast reading and creating with our fourth and fifth graders and their families.

Elementary families - Join us as we read "The Mouse and The Motorcycle" πποΈ as part of the 2023 Read Across America π Each student will receive a free copy of the book. We encourage you to follow the calendar ποΈ to read each night with your student.
As part of the month, the entire elementary will hear from guest readers from our school and community at 8:15 a.m. each morning. After completing the book, students will be treated to a motorcycle club show as well as a viewing of the movie.

HHS students are eligible to register for classes at the South Central Career Center (SCCC) now through March 10.
Priority is given to current sophomores who will be able to complete the two-year certification. Applicants must be on target to graduate. Attendance, disciplinary records, and grades will be taken into consideration for approval by Houston Schools.

INSIDE OUR CLASSROOMS π― Mrs. Tina Suttonβs Pre-K students problem solved today in order to free the frozen dinosaurs from the ice. Each student, with the help of Ms. Baylee, used a variety of tools and water to get them out of the ice. They all had their own ideas to accomplish the task.

#TBT - Seven years ago, Coach Brent Kell led the Lady Tigers to the Class 3 District 10 championship with a 47-34 win against Willow Springs. The team was led by all-state center Sarah Kelley, who along with Abby Casper was named to the all-district team. Kell was district coach of the year.
The district championship was the second in program history as the 2015-16 Lady Tigers joined the 2004 team as champs. Houston finished 21-8 that season.
