Houston Cross Country hosted three other schools Tuesday in a home race. Both the high school boys and girls topped the field and four Houston runners - Aiden Kelly, Dillon Shelton, Jessyn Allen and Lyla Huffman - won their individual races.

New to the district elementary teachers participated in PLTW (Project Lead the Way) training this week. The program empowers students to develop and apply in-demand, transportable skills by exploring real-world challenges through computer science, engineering, and biomedical science. Students not only learn technical skills, but also learn to solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate and collaborate.

Congratulations to the HMS Scholar Bowl team for its second-place finish 🥈 among 14 teams Tuesday at the Clever Invitational. The Tigers went 7-1 with a 276.25 points per game average. Seventh-grader Keaton Hinkle won the tournament's individual honors with more than 86 points per game. Way to go Tigers!
Team members are Keaton Hinkle, Chris Leighty, Ryan Hazlett, and Cash Copley.

Three Houston Middle Schoolers earned all-state honors Saturday in Wheatland by finishing in the top 25 of the Class 3 cross country state championship. Lyla Huffman finished third overall on the girls' side and Jessyn Allen was 25th. For the boys, Dillon Shelton placed 14th.

HHS Volleyball wins its district semifinal over Thayer. The Lady Tigers advance to play in Monday's championship match against Liberty.
Congratulations to Mr. Sam Van Dielen and Houston R-1 Bands for its first-place finish 🏆 in Class A at the Ozark Mountain Marching Festival. The Tigers also topped the field for Outstanding Music, Outstanding Color Guard and Outstanding Visual. The Tiger Pride will compete in the finals at 6:30 p.m.
The postseason is here for HHS Volleyball 🏐🐯 The Lady Tigers play at 5 p.m. Saturday in the Class 2 District 9 Semifinals at Cabool High School.
Along with our football team, it's also Senior Night for the HHS Cheerleaders and Houston R-1 Bands. Join us at 6:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium to honor these dedicated students and their families.

Our kindergartners took to the hallways Friday decorated with the alphabet to celebrate the completion of Alphabet Bootcamp. They’ve worked hard the past month to learn all 26 letters.
This week's #FeatureFriday is a public thank you to Bright Futures Houston. This volunteer organization works diligently through community partnerships to ensure the needs of every child in our district are met – every day – to learn, lead and serve now and in the future.
Bright Futures began the school year with a feminine product drive and in October is collecting deodorant and Kleenex.
