🔴 𝙈𝙊𝘿𝙀𝙍𝙉 𝘽𝘼𝙉𝘿. While it is an instrumental music course, you don't need prior experience to enroll. Modern Band is what it sounds like - we make modern music on modern instruments. The goal of this class is to learn to perform rock music, pop, country, and more. We have guitars, basses, keyboards, a synthesizer, a drum machine, drumset, latin percussion, and professional audio gear. Students are allowed to bring their own equipment or check stuff out. We have books and materials for each instrument. Professional audio in Modern Band includes microphones, speakers, and recording equipment included in the band's new sound system. Students would get to learn how to write their own music through really basic music theory and songwriting units. You could create your own music, mix it, record it in ultra-high quality, master it, and keep the recording. That's pretty unique! Modern Band is meant to give you foundational musical skills that you could use for the rest of your life. We have the resources to give everyone in this class the opportunity to learn about instruments and music technology. This course would also fulfill the Fine Arts requirement.

Students wanting more information concerning this course should contact Sam Van Dielen at svandielen@houston.k12.mo.us.
